About Bread+Butter Events
These are the best times of our lives; why settle for the ordinary?
We offer the ease and simplicity of a full event planning experience under one roof. Consider us a one-stop, individualized event shop; from décor to DJs to customized dinner menus, we will handle all the stress of organizing your dream celebration. In order to make each event unique and memorable, we develop personal relationships with our clients. At Bread+Butter Events, we create atmospheres that are striking yet personal. We believe in food with a global vision, brought to life with seasonal, local ingredients. We embrace creativity and progress while holding timeless standards of service. Let Bread+Butter Events be the foundation of your next big moment.
Food should be the focal point of your event, a culinary experience that sticks with your guests for years to come. Our mission is to deliver the highest level of cuisine, comparable to a full scale restaurant.
Each event menu is individually crafted based on the memories and experiences of our clients. Rather than choosing from several pre-set menu packages, you will work closely with our culinary development team to craft a unique and personalized menu. Highlighting seasonality and simplicity, we use all locally sourced ingredients from the tri-state area.
Starting at $65 a head, the Standard Menu below gives you a launching point to start building from. Our Food and Beverage program is run by Chef Lucas Manteca, a James Beard Chef Nominee and the man behind the curtain at the most outstanding restaurant experiences in South Jersey.

Head of Culinary Development Team
Born in Argentina, Lucas Mateca studied hospitality in Buenos Aires before his love of surfing drew him to Costa Rica. There, he opened his first restaurant at the age of 21, and he met his wife Deanna Ebner, a New Jersey native. The couple settled in New York City so Lucas could attend the French Culinary Institute. Lucas has spent time in some of the most acclaimed kitchens in the world, including Blue Hill (New York), Martin Berasategui (Spain), Fat Duck (UK).
For Lucas, the bounty of local seafood and New Jersey produce is the inspiration behind his menus. His signature cuisine is a blend of New England costal classics with South American flavors.
Besides his 2014 James Beard nomination, he has been named Local Food Hero by Edible Jersey and was awarded Forty Under 40 (2008), amongst many other accolades.
In his free time, Lucas is an avid surfer, and loves spending time at the beach with his wife, daughter, and two chihuahuas.
Special Events Manager
Shelby Townsend is originally from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Shelby's hospitality experience spans 16 years—most notably with James Beard nominated Chef Bryan Sikora (of Talula’s notoriety) at his restaurant La Fia in Wilmington, DE, and in restaurants such as Terrain at Styers where she was first exposed to and fell in love with casual fine dining in a farm to table atmosphere.
Shelby joined Bread+Butter Restaurant Group in the Fall of 2015 after moving to Stone Harbor to help a friend open a new bar and restaurant. She co-founded Bread+Butter Events in 2016 and has been Special Events Manager since.
Shelby holds degrees in Public & International Affairs and Art History from The University of North Carolina Wilmington. When not working, or being a bridesmaid (she has been a bridesmaid six times!) Shelby's interests include art, live music, Korean BBQ and reading. She is passionate about respect in the work environment, and believes that genuine connections with people are key to creating terrific guest experiences.
